چکیده

An infant with type 3c truncus arteriosus of Collett and Edwards is reported. In this anomaly, the left pulmonary artery arisesfrom the left lateral wall of the truncus and the right pulmonary artery originatesfrom a rght-sided ductus arteriosus. Only two reports of this malformation have been described previously. Precise anatomical diagnosis is ofimportance since some of these patients may have a small persistent ductus arteriosus and right pulmonary artery, so that surgical correction is not feasible. This rare anomaly is discussed and comment made on the surgical and clinical implications.

Association of VACTERL with truncus arteriosus, left-sided aortic arch, hypoplastic pulmonary arteries, and severe radial axis defect

Background: VACTERL association is usually a sporadic disorder, the possible etiologies of which have been proposed as familial as well as multiple genetic and environmental factors. VACTERL association usually consists of at least three of the core features of vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, tracheoesophageal fistula, renal anomalies, and limb abnormalities. Vertebral anomali...

Down Syndrome with Unbalanced Complete Atrioventricular Septal Defect and Truncus Arteriosus

Truncus arteriosus (TA) is a rare cardiac anomaly constituting less than 1% of all congenital heart defects. The association of complete atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD) and truncus arteriosus is uncommon. The management of this uncommon combination of lesions has not been well characterized and there is limited surgical options for treatment of these patients. We present our case report o...

Truncus arteriosus communis with survival to the age of 46 years: case report.

Truncus arteriosus communis is an uncommon congenital cardiovascular malformation characterized by a single arterial trunk that arises from the base of the heart and gives rise to the coronary, pulmonary and systemic arteries. The prognosis in truncus arteriosus is very poor without surgical correction. The median age at death without surgery ranges from 2 weeks to 3 months, with 85 % mortality...

Persistent Truncus Arteriosus With Intact Ventricular Septum: Clinical, Hemodynamic and Short-term Surgical Outcome

INTRODUCTION Truncus arteriosus with intact ventricular septum is a rare and unique variant of persistent truncus arteriosus (PTA) which usually presents with central cyanosis and congestive heart failure in neonate and early infancy. Associated cardiac and non-cardiac anomalies may affect morbidity and mortality of these patients. CASE PRESENTATION We describe clinical presentation, echocard...

Single ventricle with persistent truncus arteriosus as two rare entities in an adult patient: a case report

INTRODUCTION Single ventricle and truncus arteriosus are both rare congenital cardiac syndromes with limited survival. Their occurrence together is extremely uncommon and prolonged survival is exceptionally rare. We present the case of a patient who had both of these defects with survival to age 45. CASE PRESENTATION We describe the vase of a 45-year-old man with the unusual occurrence of two...
